Kate Purcell

Kate Purcell is a native of Feakle, in East Clare, who now lives in Tulla. Anybody who has lived all their lives in both these places would inevitably be influenced by traditional music. Kate started her musical career straight from school. She played for a while with a band and then started on her own, playing at various venues around County Clare. At that time she was offered a residency at the very prestigious Dromoland Castle where she still performs.

This her first album met with great critical acclaim. It won her 2 awards from Irish Music Magazine. Two singles chosen from the album were play listed by 2FM.

Savannah was nominated by Hot Press, as Single of the Fortnight. You Never Said Goodbye spent 5 weeks in the Irish Charts.
As a result of this success, she appeared on TV shows, Kenny Live, PM Live, Open House, Limelight, Sibin and Bernie Beo.

Live work came rolling in which saw Kate performing with Jimmy McCarty, Kieran Goss, Mick Hand, Charlie McGettigan and Donal Lunny's Coolfinn.

This album was produced by the master, P.J. Curtis, whose credits read like a who's who of Irish music. Engineer Matt Purcell is behind most of the great music coming out of Clare for the past 20 years.

Finally a word from Kate herself.
"One year ago, I was given the opportunity of making an album which would feature songs written by my friend Mary, my sister Maurette and myself. I was thrilled with the chance as it was something I had wanted to do for a long time.
The outcome, I hope you'll agree, is a very fine album, beautifully produced by P.J. Curtis, and features musicians of the highest calibre. I feel honoured to have worked with all of these artists, and I am proud to have been part of the team. I hope you enjoy it too" Kate Purcell.
