TOMMY PEOPLES
A very rare recording of the legendary Donegal fiddler, Tommy Peoples, recorded in 1985. Piano and guitar accompaniement on some tracks by Eugene Kelly.
He is joined on track 10 by his daughter Siobhan on fiddle.
Biog.
Tommy Peoples was born in St Johnstone, Co Donegal. His first fiddle lessons came from his cousin Joe Cassidy R.I.P. His unique style of fiddle playing, his range and choice of material, along with his dedicated following is recognised far and wide. Since the famous Bothy Band album which was released in 1975 Tommy has recorded with the highly acclaimed flautist Matt Molly and Paul Brady as well as several acclaimed solo albums. Style, techinique, versatility, ornamentation and a deep knowledge and appreciation of the tradition and the feeling in his music make Tommy Peoples one of the greats of Irish traditional music. He inspired our generation with his music and friendship, sadly Tommy passed on to his eternal reward on 7th August 2018.R.I.P.
